PROHIBITION AND WARNING


A.  Prohibition and warning

1.      Prohibition

Giving prohibition is a giving order to someone no to do something. Prohibition functions to forbid or prevent someone from doing something.

Pattren : Don't + Verb 1


Example:
a.       Don’t disturb!
b.      Don’t open the window!
c.       Don’t leave me alone!

2.      Warning

Warning is telling someone about a possible danger or difficulty. It is very important to know how to express yourself in dangerous situations because a warning can be of vital importance to others. We want to teach you this know-how in this article.
After using the phrases of warning you should not forget to tell someone of which danger you are warning.

Example of expressing Warning?
Bisma       : Have you ever tried smoking, Claudia?
Claudia     : Honestly, yes. I have. It was out of curiosity, but then led to a habit. I
                    regretted doing it, though.
Bisma       : May I know the reason why?
Claudia     : My aunt was a heavy smoker. She has a cancer. The doctor said that it resulted from her 
 smoking habit.
Bisma       : Oh, I’m sorry.
Claudia     : Then she warned me about the dangers of smoking. She stopped
  smoking, too,of course. By the way, do you smoke? If you do, it is
  advisable that you stop smoking.
Bisma       : Fortunately,  I don’t smoke. I hope that I’ll never give into the
  temptation of smoking.
Clauida     : Ha..haa, you’d better not.
